United Way is the philanthropic hub of our community.  Since 1955, generations of local residents and businesses have made their charitable impact through United Way.  When you give to United Way, you become a part of a long-standing solution that works to positively influence the health, education, and financial stability of every person in our community.  More than just a fundraiser, United Way collaborates with businesses, non-profits, government, and civic organizations to address the growing needs of our community.  No gift is too large or too small, as your contributions of time and treasure unite with those of others to make a difference here at home.

While you are working with students in the classroom, our programs are taking care of kids' needs so they can come to school ready to learn.  We hope you view us as a community partner in your work to educate our next generation.  Click the links here to see specific ways United Way helps in:

Warm Clothes for KidsBecause of United Way funding:

  • More than 1,900 preschoolers are enrolled in the DOLLY PARTON IMAGINATION LIBRARY, receiving a free book every month to increase vocabulary, build kindergarten readiness, and have quality reading time with family members.  In addition to sharing stories and making memories, a study we did with Logan County elementary schools last year showed that incoming kindergarteners who received Dolly books scored 21 percent higher on their kindergarten readiness assessments than students who did not.
  • WARM CLOTHES FOR KIDS (pictured to the right) works with teachers and administrators each fall to identify over 450 children in Grades K-12 who need new winter coats and gear and outfits them before the snow flies.
  • Our STUFF THE BUS school supply drive collects and distributes thousands of materials directly to all county schools so teachers and students have a stash of items from which they can pick out exactly what they need.
  • TCN BEHAVIORIAL HEALTH screens every 6th and 9th grade student for mental health, substance abuse, and suicide risk so that those who score high can get help and counseling.
  • Our new LUNCH BUDDIES mentoring program in Logan County will pair about 300 adult role models with 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders in every school to improve mental health and self-esteem among our youth.
  • Afterschool and summer activities occur everyday at the LOGAN COUNTY NEIGHBORHOOD OUTREACH CENTERS in Bellefontaine, Russells Point, and Chippewa.
  • Spaces in summer camps and activities are provided at the HILLIKER YMCA, SUMMER AUTISM ACADEMY, and the Camp Braveheart Bereavement Camp through GREEN HILLS / UNIVERSAL HOSPICE.
  • Our STUDENT UNITED WAY leadership development program brings together two dozen students from seven high schools to learn about community needs and address them by having the students themselves award $25,000 in grants to organizations of THEIR choosing.
Beyond educational partnerships, so many children are supported through additional programming such as our HOUSING STABILITY PROGRAM or LOCAL FOOD PANTRIES that affects the health and financial stability of their entire families. DID YOU KNOW?
  • United Way funded food programs served more than 971,000 meals to 7,000 unduplicated Logan County residents last year!
