Job Description

Summary
Join United Way's fight for the health, education, and financial stability of every person in Logan County.  This one-year AmeriCorps VISTA service opportunity being facilitated through Think Tank, Inc. will provide a community-minded applicant with a range of fundraising, marketing, programming, and special event experiences in a one of Logan County's most influential organizations.  This is a 40-hour/week position.
 
The VISTA will enhance United Way's capacity by taking on roles of leadership and support on various projects throughout the year, including:
   
Campaign Support
  • Assist Executive Director in the execution of United Way campaign projects.  This includes all special events, mailings, follow-up calls.  
  • Coordination of the annual Online Auction and Stuff the Bus School Supply Drive
  • Direct Mail campaigns   
Community Care Day
  • Assist in the planning and execution of our corporate volunteer workday.  Includes outreach to local social service agencies to recruit volunteer projects.
Dolly Parton Imagination Library
  • Regular outreach to local organizations that serve preschool children to promote continued awareness and enrollment in our early childhood literacy program.  These would include:  Child care centers, preschools, WIC, Mary Rutan Hospital, New Path Pregnancy Center, churches.
  • Monthly maintenance of the online registration database.
  • Outreach to program participants to obtain feedback, photos, and testimonials.
Housing Stability Program
  • Outreach to local landlords to help us build and maintain a database of available rental properties and to develop relationships with landlords who may be willing to rent to individuals with barriers.
  • Help us coordinate financial literacy education that can be provided, either through follow-up meetings with clients or through a Financial Coaching program.     
Marketing
  • Assist with the marketing projects of the organization, including content development and maintenance of online and social media platforms.  
Women United
  • Serve as the staff liaison for this new UW affinity group.  Coordinate with the volunteers to plan and coordinate:
  • A speaker series
  • A social function
  • A fundraising event (such as a Purse Bingo)
  • Volunteer activities, including the Lunch Buddy program in area schools
Additional duties as assigned.
